This catshark hunts at night over rocky and weed covered ground, taking molluscs, crustaceans and smaller fish, including its own relative the lesser spotted dogfish. By day it rests in crevices, and females lay tough egg cases that they anchor to seaweed with long tendrils. It reaches well over a metre and a half, large for a catshark.
