A warm bodied cousin of the great white, the porbeagle keeps its muscles hotter than the surrounding sea and ranges from the surface to well over a thousand metres. It follows the continental shelves on long seasonal migrations, moving inshore in summer and wintering offshore in deeper water, and grows to around three and a half metres.
