Marbled Shore Crab

Pachygrapsus marmoratus

Marbled Shore Crab

Quick and flat bodied, the marbled shore crab scuttles sideways across rocks from the upper to middle shore and darts into crevices in breakwaters and pilings. It eats a bit of everything, grazing algae and scavenging, and tolerates long spells out of the water as the tide drops.
