Sargassumfish

Histrio histrio

Sargassumfish

This frogfish lives its whole life among floating rafts of sargassum weed, matching the golden tangle so closely that it nearly disappears. It clambers through the weed on armlike fins and ambushes anything it can swallow, often fish its own size. Storms sometimes wash it into bays and onto shore.
