A large deep sea cusk eel, reaching nearly two metres, caught only rarely in midwater and bottom trawls. Like its relatives it is thought to be a spawner of oval pelagic eggs set adrift in a gelatinous mass. So few have been seen that much of its biology is still guesswork.
