A stout goby of estuaries, lagoons and inshore waters over sand and mud, often among seagrass or algae. It feeds on shrimps, amphipods, worms, small shellfish and the occasional small fish, ranges from shallows to nearly 100 metres, and grows to about 25 centimetres.
