Long, flat and bright silver like a strip of metal, the largehead hairtail tapers to a fine point with no tail fin to speak of. It hangs head up in the water over muddy coastal bottoms, reaching well over two metres, and hunts fish and squid by day after the young have fed on small crustaceans.
