A triggerfish of sandy and rocky coastal bottoms, scattered with pale blue spots, that crunches up crabs and bivalves with its tough jaws. Like all triggerfish it can wedge itself into a crevice by locking its first dorsal spine upright. Despite being common in trade it is now classed as vulnerable.
