A massive disc of a fish that drifts in the open ocean, the bumphead sunfish can top three metres and weigh over two tonnes, with a bony bump on the forehead in larger adults. It favours warmer water than the common sunfish and rises to bask near the surface. It swims with its tall dorsal and anal fins rather than a true tail.
