Kidney Sponge
Chondrosia reniformis
- Group: Other
A firm rubbery sponge shaped like a kidney, it lives on rock from the surface down to about thirty metres. It builds no glassy spicules and no horny fibres, holding itself together with tough collagen instead, and its colour darkens the brighter the light it sits in.
