This tiny dartfish gathers in loose groups of ten to fifty, hovering up to a metre above swept sand and rubble slopes around twenty eight to thirty one metres down. It lives in murky water where a thermocline can chill conditions to twenty seven degrees, and at only two centimetres it is easy to overlook.
