A spiny headed sea snake of tropical continental shelf waters, usually well away from shore, often seen at the surface over reefs and open channels. It hunts across sandy silt bottoms, seagrass beds and lagoons, taking small fish such as gobies, and grows to about a hundred and thirty centimetres.
