Trochiform Pteropod

A pteropod no larger than a grain of rice, the trochiform pteropod swims through open water on a pair of winglike flaps and gathers food by trailing a wide net of mucus. It drifts through the upper ocean from the surface down to around 500 metres, filtering tiny particles as it goes.
