Spiny Fileclam

The spiny fileclam anchors itself to the underside of stones and corals with tough byssal threads, on shallow reefs and rocky ground down to about 200 metres. It grows to roughly 9 centimetres and, like other fileclams, can swim in short bursts by clapping its ridged shell.
