Gaping File Shale

A swimming file shell that claps its valves to dart through the water, it lives on kelp holdfasts and mixed gravel between 4 and 100 metres. It spins a nest of sticky threads and waves long, brightly coloured tentacles that cannot fully withdraw into the shell.
