Rough Pitar Venus

Pitar rudis

Rough Pitar Venus

A small clam of muddy seafloors thick with broken shell and grit, the rough pitar venus stays buried and draws a steady current of water through its body to filter out food. It is an active suspension feeder, sieving plankton from the flow rather than waiting for it to settle.
