Aggregated Nipple Sponge

Polymastia koltuni

Aggregated Nipple Sponge

Small breast shaped sponges, each topped by a single opening, cluster together until a colony spreads across most of a metre. The aggregated nipple sponge favours rock with sandy pockets right at the low tide line, where it pumps water through its body to strain out food.
