A blunt black sea cucumber with stubby projections, the greenfish trundles across shallow reef flats and slopes, swallowing sand and digesting the film of organic matter on each grain. It lives from near the surface to about 15 metres and is gathered by hand for the dried sea cucumber trade. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
