Considered the most dangerous weever in European seas, the lesser weever buries itself on sandy and muddy bottoms near beaches with only its eyes and the black tipped first dorsal fin showing. That fin carries venom glands, and bathers who tread on it are stung. It reaches under thirty centimetres.
