A common triggerfish of reefs, wrecks and harbours, the grey triggerfish crunches crabs, urchins and shellfish with strong teeth and blows jets of water to expose buried prey. The young drift far out at sea among floating Sargassum weed, and it can lock itself into a crevice by raising a stout dorsal spine.
