This little bobtail squid buries in muddy and sandy bottoms by day on the continental shelf and slope, then emerges at night to hunt. It grows to around 5 centimetres and ranges from about 14 metres down to well over 2,000, a rounded, big eyed cousin of the cuttlefish.
