Once the great food fish of the Caribbean reef, the Nassau grouper reaches well over a metre and hunts fishes and crabs around caves from the shoreline to ninety metres. It gathers by the thousands at the new moon to spawn, and that very predictability fed a collapse so severe the species is now Critically Endangered.
