Seen head on it nearly vanishes, a thin silver disc that flashes bright and tall when it turns broadside. The lookdown cruises shallow coastal flats over sand and hard bottom in schools, picking off small crabs, shrimps, worms and fish, though some catches have carried ciguatera.
