A thumb sized frogfish that walks on armlike fins, the scarlet frogfish sits camouflaged among rocks and sponges in tide pools and on reefs, usually shallower than 10 metres. It ambushes small fishes, then lays its eggs in a floating ribbon of jelly called a veil.
