Gray Encrusting Sponge

Gelliodes fibrosa

Gray Encrusting Sponge

The gray encrusting sponge mostly settles in busy harbours and other disturbed spots, coating fouled surfaces and the shaded undersides of plate corals on patch reefs. It spreads as a thin crust over hard surfaces and strains its food from the water moving through it, posing no danger to divers.
