A heavy, vase shaped sea snail of shallow Caribbean reefs and lagoons, it crawls over coral, rubble, seagrass and rock from the shoreline down to about twenty metres. A predator, it uses a muscular foot and thick, spiny shell as it hunts worms and other shelled animals. It grows to around thirteen centimetres.
