A commercially important shrimp of the Gulf and southeastern coast, living over mud and clay bottoms from a couple of metres down to about ninety. Adults stay in the open sea while juveniles grow up in estuaries, migrating to deeper water as they mature, and it reaches around twenty two centimetres.
