The most common ark shell of the Indo Pacific, it anchors itself by tough byssal threads among rocks, under coral slabs, and in crevices down to around 46 metres. It also nestles on dead coral in shallow lagoons, filtering plankton from the water, and reaches about 8 centimetres. Harmless to divers.
