Bracket coral spreads in broad, thin plates that jut from the reef like shelves, ranging from the surface to an unusually deep three hundred and sixty eight metres for a reef coral. Algae inside it provide much of its food, it bleaches only moderately in warm spells, and it is listed as Least Concern.
