A round, thin shelled sea snail, the partridge tun crawls over fine sandy bottoms and coral reefs from the shallows to about 50 metres. On the reef flats it hunts sea cucumbers, which it can swallow whole, and it sometimes turns up in trawl nets and fish traps.
