A flat bodied porcelain crab, it presses into the bases of dead coral and squeezes into crevices from the shore down to around 180 metres. Rather than hunting, it sweeps the water with feathery mouth fans to strain out drifting food, and sheds a limb readily if grabbed. Harmless to divers.
