The common decorator crab dresses its shell and legs with bits of sponge, weed and debris to vanish against the reef, living from the shoreline down to about forty metres. It grows to roughly six centimetres around rocks and sandy reef bottoms, and its flesh can be toxic and is unsafe to eat.
