A handsome sea cucumber of reef slopes near the coast, it grazes corals mixed with red calcareous algae mostly in the top 25 metres and grows to about 45 centimetres. When badly irritated it can expel sticky white threads to entangle an attacker, and it is not harvested for trade. Listed as Least Concern.
