A venomous ambush predator that camouflages itself against sand, rubble and mud between about fifteen and sixty metres, so well that divers seldom spot it. It walks slowly over the bottom on finger like lower pectoral rays and waits half hidden to lunge at passing prey, spines raised in defence.
