This clownfish lives nested in a sea anemone, unharmed by the stinging tentacles, often where the current runs strong down to about 15 metres. Each anemone holds one large female, a smaller breeding male and a few stunted juveniles; lose the female and the male turns into her, with a juvenile stepping up to take his old place.
