A small shark of sand and gravel bottoms, the whitespotted smooth hound ranges from the shoreline out across the shelf and upper slope as deep as 443 metres. It feeds on crustaceans, octopus, bony fish and discarded offal, and gives birth to live young. It grows to about 120 centimetres.
