A heavy turban snail with a silvery interior to its shell, it clings to rocks in coral reef areas, lagoons and atolls from the intertidal down to about 30 metres. It is one of the most commonly collected turban shells in the tropical Pacific, taken for food and for buttons cut from its shell.
