The tiger catshark works the continental shelf from close inshore out to deeper water off southern Africa, hunting small bony fishes, crustaceans, cephalopods and small elasmobranchs. It reaches about 45 centimetres and lays its eggs in tough cases on the seabed like other catsharks.
