Bright red and silver, this squirrelfish hides in rocky and coral rich reefs by day and feeds at night. The spine on its gill cover carries venom, so it is best admired and not handled. It usually keeps to itself but sometimes gathers in schools in deeper oceanic water, down to around 90 metres.
