A threadfin bream of sand and mud bottoms, it feeds on fish, crustaceans, shellfish and worms and turns flighty by day. It usually moves in small groups, ranges down to about 100 metres, and is trawled in quantity in the Straits of Malacca. It reaches about 29 centimetres.
