A large, thick lipped sweetlips of clear lagoon and seaward reefs, the two striped sweetlips reaches about a metre and is usually solitary, sometimes paired on deeper reefs. Its young start out in brackish or turbid coastal shallows. At Palau it gathers once a year around the new moon to spawn.
