The silver moony is a tall, near round disc of a fish that schools through mangrove estuaries, tidal creeks and the lower reaches of freshwater streams. It feeds on plankton and detritus and tolerates a wide swing in salinity, which lets it move between river and sea. Juveniles may go it alone before joining the large schools of adults.
