This demoiselle lives among rubble and reef rock on exposed intertidal flats and sandy beaches, often right where freshwater runoff meets the sea, never deeper than about 3 metres. It gathers in small groups, grazes benthic algae by day, and the male guards eggs stuck to the bottom.
