A blenny of seaward reef slopes, it sits singly or in small groups along the upper edge in less than 10 metres, sometimes down to 20, among Acropora and Pocillopora corals of surf swept algal ridges. It lays sticky demersal eggs on the reef and grows to about 10 centimetres.
