Imposter Fangblenny

Plagiotremus phenax

Imposter Fangblenny

This little fangblenny survives by impersonation, copying the look of a venomous combtooth blenny so reef fish leave it alone. It lives alone in shallow coastal and lagoon water down to about 10 metres, sticking its eggs to the substrate on an adhesive pad.
