A blenny of the tidal zone, very shallow reefs and rock pools, the maned blenny grazes red and green seaweeds and takes hydrozoans, mussels and small crustaceans. It guards sticky eggs glued to the rock until the larvae hatch and drift away, and grows to about 10 centimetres.
