The tank goby is a large goby that rules clear and turbid streams, estuaries, canals and ponds, often resting on rock, gravel or sand with its pelvic fins fused into a holdfast disc. It ambushes insects, crustaceans and small fish, and pushes freely between fresh and brackish water. It reaches about fifty centimetres, big for a goby.
