The Indo Pacific king mackerel is a fast pelagic hunter ranging coastal waters between about 15 and 200 metres and sometimes pushing into turbid estuaries. Travelling in small schools, it chases sardines, anchovies, squid and crustaceans, and grows to over 80 centimetres.
