A triggerfish of current swept seaward reefs, it grazes algae and detritus off coral rich slopes down past 60 metres but also snaps up crustaceans, sponges, octopuses and small fish. It hangs in small loose groups through the water rather than hugging the bottom, and reaches about 40 centimetres.
