A small octopus of the Southern Ocean that turns up from the shallows down to about 4,000 metres, mostly over muddy bottoms. With a mantle only a few centimetres long, it is among the cold water octopuses that brood their eggs through the long polar winter. The IUCN rates it of least concern.
